The strongest predictors of dyslexia used in Universal Screening (screening that is done on all young children in their first 2 years of school) are phonological awareness and rapid naming. Another important predictor is phonological memory.
To keep the Dyslexia Quest Screening tool shorter for the youngest children, the focus is on fewer games that assess these three areas.
The games for older children look at additional areas to provide more information to teachers and parents planning learning programs for the student. Because of the additional assessment games, it may take longer to complete Dyslexia Quest. Older children are generally able to maintain attention for the longer period of time required to complete all the elements.
