When playing the Rapid Naming-Letters game should the student say the letter name or the letter sound?

Because of regional instructional differences, some younger children may not yet have been taught the letter names, so it is appropriate for them to say the sound the letter makes instead.  

What is most important is that students are consistent in their response, i.e. they either name all the letters or make the letters sound and do not do both.
